Marquette University Campus
The University Hill neighborhood resides within a larger area known as Avenues West. Marquette University has made University Hill its home since 1881. The University’s campus sits high on a hill overlooking the Menomonee River Valley, and extends from 9th St. on the east to 24th St. on the west, and from Clybourn Ave. to State St., south to north. This area has a rich history and features many historic buildings that recall a time when industrialists, executives, and beer barons called this area home.
One of the most diverse areas of the city, near west side residents include Marquette University students, as well as many former students. It is also increasingly sought out by young professionals and families who seek to take advantage of reasonable home prices and rents, and its close proximity to downtown Milwaukee. The near west side is the birthplace of Harley Davidson and Miller Brewing, and these corporations still have headquarters here.
